Akhigbe African Caribbean Food Market Inc., doing business as Akhigbe African Supermarket (Grocery Division) and Akhigbe Nigerian Caterers (Catering Division) was incorporated in the summer of 2011, and jointly owned by Kingsley Akhigbe and his wife, Rita. The grocery division is managed by Kingsley, a Canadian and USA trained Food Safety & Quality Systems Consultant, with over 18 years of experience in managing food safety, quality assurance and regulatory programs for Canadian and USA food processing companies, while the catering division is under the leadership of Rita, a renowned Cook & Canadian Certified Caterer, with over 15 years in managing restaurants and large scale catering operations.

This unique combination of knowledge and skills is what sets our organization apart from its competitors, and equips us to meet our mission of being a one stop shop for safe, high quality and affordable African groceries, beauty supplies and Nigerian meals. We aim to be more than just a cultural grocery store; we convert our skills into world class shopping experience that produces loyalty from our valued customers.

In spring of 2019, we entered into partnership with Obehi Quality Foods (Nigeria) Ltd for the processing and packaging of “Obehi” brand frozen vegetables (Bitter Leaves, Scent Leaves, Jute Leaves, Pumpkin Leaves, Ukazi, Utazi, etc) and frozen snails, washed beans, pap, etc.

Our products are sourced directly from reputable suppliers, and we monitor every step of our supply chain-from the farmers to the meals we prepare for your families, to ensure a consistent safe and quality experience.
